San Angelo ISD Announces a Variety of Summer Program Opportunities for Students

San Angelo ISD is excited to offer a number of free, enriching summer program opportunities for our students of all ages starting this June. We invite students to join SAISD educators in a fun and inspiring environment designed to develop their individual creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication skills that are an important part of the SAISD Learner Profile and future-readiness. We also expanded offerings by adding new “jump start” programs we created to build excitement and foster a sense of belonging for students transitioning to a new level, such as elementary to middle and middle to high school. Elementary School Jump Start K-2nd Grade Literacy Camp 
This literacy camp for current Kindergarten through 2nd graders will focus on building literacy skills through reading, writing, listening, and speaking. We will provide student engagement with reading and writing stamina, motivation, independence, and leadership skills, as well as foster important social-emotional skills. 

  • Dates/Times: June 7-July 1, 2021, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am - 11:30 am
  • Locations: Austin, Bradford, Crockett, and San Jacinto Elementary Schools

English Language Learner Summer Program 
This program is open to any current pre-kindergarten and kindergarten English Language Learner student from any of our elementary schools.  It is designed to build language acquisition skills. This program will focus on developing your student’s literacy skills through reading, writing, listening, and speaking. We will identify and develop any gaps, and help prepare the student for a successful upcoming school year. Registration must be completed by Friday, May 14, 2021. The deadline to register has been extended! SAISD STEM Kids Camp 
Our annual summer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) camp is back! A hands-on opportunity to explore robotics, create their own code, or design in the Makerspace this fun camp is open to all currently enrolled SAISD current 2nd - 5th graders. We cannot wait to see their imagination go wild!

NEW! Middle School Jump Start Summer Program
We understand transitioning to middle school is a big change and an important step in students’ academic career. That’s why we are excited to offer our incoming 6th grade students an opportunity to “jump start” their middle school experience. Open to all incoming 6th graders, this amazing program will help them to better understand what it means to be a middle school student and to feel prepared.  Students will experience middle school academics, specifically focused on reading and math, while also learning how to be a successful middle school student.  If you are interested in having your incoming 6th grade student participate in this Middle School Jump Start Program, please complete the appropriate form below. Open to all incoming 9th grade students, this amazing program will help them to better understand what it means to be a high school student and to feel prepared.  Students will experience high school academics, specifically focused on reading and math, while also learning how to be successful in high school. High School Credit Recovery
Central High School on Main and Lake View High School will offer both in-person and virtual options for students to recover credits that they did not successfully complete during the 2020-2021 school year.  These programs will be held in June and July.  Summer programming administrators at both high school campuses will be providing more information for students about these opportunities.  

High School End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment Prep Program and Testing Opportunities 
Central High School on Main and Lake View High School will offer both in-person and virtual options for students to gain valuable skills and content to help them be better prepared for the retest opportunities in late June. The EOC prep program will take place in June.  Summer programming administrators at both high schools will be providing more information for students about this opportunity.
