Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month: Student Testimonials

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month: Student Testimonials

February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month which celebrates the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country. San Angelo ISD is proud of our CTE programs that support student future-readiness with courses providing clear direction to pursue post-secondary opportunities - whether that be a college education or entering the workforce. To celebrate CTE month, we asked a few of our CTE students enrolled in the many different programs offered about their experience. Check out what they had to say!

Central High School senior Delaney Grimes is enrolled in the Teaching and Training pathway taking courses such as Principles of Education and Instructional Practices. Delaney has a passion for the education profession, and was excited for the opportunity to have hands-on training for her future career prior to college. “My favorite part of taking the CTE classes is that I get to have an internship actually in the elementary classrooms student teaching,” said Delaney. “I enjoy getting life skills and job experience.” Delaney plans to attend Angelo State University and major in Early Childhood Education to become an elementary teacher.

Lake View High School junior Adan Infante is enrolled in the Manufacturing pathway taking courses such as Principles of Construction and Introduction to Welding. Adan specifically enjoys making and renovating projects as part of his construction classes. “I selected these CTE courses so I can develop real world work skills for my future,” said Adan. Adan plans to continue pursuing welding and construction in his future and knows these classes will help make him successful.

Central High School senior Matthew Muncey is enrolled in the Business, Marketing, and Finance pathway taking courses such as Money Matters and Sports Entertainment and Marketing. “I selected these courses because they offer valuable information that I will carry all throughout life,” said Matthew. “I learned how to type, the stages of life, and how to manage my money correctly.” Matthew particularly enjoys the hands-on approach to these classes which allows him to better understand the subject matter. Matthew plans to attend Angelo State University and become a Physical Therapist.

Lake View High School junior Chett Short is enrolled in the Manufacturing pathway taking courses such as Principles of Construction and Introduction to Welding. Chett joined the CTE program to gain relevant experience for after graduation, and enjoys building new things in his construction classes and completing an assignment after learning a new skill. Chett plans to become a Game Warden.

Central High School senior Meagan Combs is enrolled in the Business, Marketing, and Finance pathway taking courses such as Audio/Video Production and Accounting. “CTE classes allow you to take a look into the real world. These classes have allowed me to gain life skills such as managing money and even how to do taxes,” said Meagan. “Taking Accounting challenges my brain, but is enjoyable, which made me love the class.” Meagan plans to go to business school and major in Accounting or Actuarial Sciences.

We are so proud of these students and all of our CTE students for following their hopes and dreams, and discovering their individual talents through our programs. These are just a few of the variety of programs your student can take part in through our CTE programs. In fact, SAISD is currently working on expanding our CTE offerings and recently announced an innovative partnership to bring additional unique manufacturing and engineering opportunities to our students in 2022-2023.

We look forward to sharing more student testimonials like these soon! To stay up-to-date on San Angelo ISD, please visit the SAISD website at www.saisd.org and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
